Sensory Friendly Hour
Children, youth, and families with sensory processing differences are invited to a special pre-opening hour in the Youth Area! Fridays, beginning June 2 at 9:00am.
Before the rest of the library opens to the public, families can enter the Youth Area to explore our collection of books, STEAM materials and more in a calm library environment! Try out sensory supports like fidgets, noise cancelling headphones, sunglasses, weighted blankets and rocking chairs. The Library doors will be open from 9:00-9:15am, and we will allow for folx to exit before the building opens at 10:00am.

150th Birthday Celebration!
FFL's 150th birthday celebration will take place on Saturday, July 15, from noon-3:30. Join us first for a costume parade (dress as your favorite literary character or author) down Church Street at noon. Then head down to the library lawn for activities and more! Enjoy a community art project with Renee Greenlee, temporary tattoos with Little Artsy Faces, historical timeline display (inside), hybrid tv screen with rotating birthday greetings from local "celebs" (inside), birthday cake, and specific performances such as Marko the Magician at 1:30 pm and A2VT at 2:30 pm!
Film: I Know A Man...Ashley Bryan
I Know A Man...Ashley Bryan is said by some to be an antidote to the hatred, racism and division that our country is experiencing. The film is about this 95-year-old poet/artist who skips and jumps in his heart like a child. Born in Harlem and raised in the Bronx, Ashley’s talent was nurtured by artist Romare Bearden.
National Bike to Work Day Event
National Bike To Work Day is a celebration of biking as transportation, as recreation, as essential to our well-being and everyday lives. The event will feature eBike demonstrations by Local Motion and expert bike commuter, Peter Burns, will provide guidance on safe and fun biking in an hour workshop.
