Virtual program from the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. NMAAHC curator Dr. Dwandalyn Reece will moderate a discussion about Hulu's The United States vs. Billie Holiday.  The film was directed by Academy Award nominee Lee Daniels, with a screenplay written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks. It features  It offers glimpses into the corners of Billie Holiday's story which were overshadowed by the controversy surrounding Lady Day and her untimely death. Panelists will include Mr. Daniels and Ms. Parks as they share their perspectives on the star’s lasting influence. This panel will be pre-recorded, and there will be no Q & A with the participants.
