Creating Comics from Ethnographic and Oral History Fieldwork at the Non-Fiction Comics Festival

This hybrid panel (Burlington, VT and Tulsa, OK) examines three recent comics projects created from ethnographic and oral history interviews. From Oklahoma, the Chilocco Indian School explores experiences of elders who lived at the school as children. From Vermont, two recent publications—The Most Costly Journey, presenting stories of migrant farm workers on Vermont dairy farms, and Turner Family Stories, drawn from oral history interviews with the remarkable Daisy Turner of Grafton, VT.

Presented in partnership with the American Folklore Society.
