Adventure Begins at Your Library Fletcher Free Library 2024 Summer Challenge

Summer Challenge 2024: Adventure Begins at Your Library!

  • Pre-register now for the 2024 Summer Challenge (powered by Beanstack)!
  • Earn badges in Vermont Summer Reading 2024 Challenge at vermont.beanstack.org June 1 - August 31.
  • Adventure passports, t-shirts, and other materials available beginning June 22!
  • Turn in your completed passports in August for a prize drawing the week of August 26!

How does it work?

  • Challenge yourself to complete your "Adventure Begins at Your Library" passport by reading, writing, and completing fun activities. Submit badges through the Beanstack app, at vermont.beanstack.org, or by completing the paper passport.
  • Visit the Main Library or the New North End Branch for outdoor and indoor events.
  • Explore reading material at the Main Library, the New North End Branch or online!
  • Enjoy programs inside the library and on the library lawn.
  • Meet with with library staff for activities and t-shirts (while they last) at Fletcher Free Library, Burlington schools, Burlington parks and meal sites and community centers!
  • Have fun!

Outreach / Parks Schedule

Required summer reading for Burlington middle/high school students:

Edmunds incoming 6th graders:

Incoming 6th graders will read a 2024-2025 Golden Dome nominated book of their choosing, which will be delivered by their teachers over the summer.

Edmunds rising 7th & 8th graders:

Rising 7/8th grade students are asked to read any book. Looking for book suggestions? 2024-2025 Golden Dome and 2024-2025 Green Mountain Book Award nominees are a great place to start.

Hunt incoming 6th graders:

Students are required to read two books this summer; one should be a 2024-2025 Golden Dome nominee, selected by the student and purchased by the school.

Hunt rising 7th & 8th graders:

Students are required to read two books this summer; one should be a 2024-2025 Golden Dome or 2024-2025 Green Mountain Book Award nominee, selected by the student and purchased by the school.

Burlington High School: 

No official requirements, but students are highly encouraged to continue reading. Some AP classes have required reading and students should check with their teachers about their specific requirements. Looking for book suggestions? 2024-2025 Green Mountain Book Award nominees are a great place to start.
