The Fletcher Free Library will join the City of Burlington in marking Juneteenth, as a significant turning point in our nation's history through education and open-air celebrations. Please join us on the Library lawn for information, food and a panel discussion on the work being done and the challenges of building an equitable food system in Vermont.
Appreciating diversity - of skin colors, hair textures, foods, and music. Embracing friendships across racial lines. Understanding that every racial and ethnic group includes people who believe different things and behave in different ways, that there is as much diversity within racial groups as across them.
Explore topics such as racism as they are covered in this month's book and relate to parenting. This is an opportunity to create a safe space for discussion, keeping in mind that the facilitators are not experts and are looking to connect and support each other around important parenting issues.

The murders of eight people at several spas in the Atlanta area, most of them Asian American and women, marks only the most awful, recent contribution to a year-long spike in violence against Asians and Asian Americans in the US. The advocacy group STOP AAPI [Asian American Pacific Islander] Hate received some 3,000 reports of assaults against group members between March and December 2020 alone, many of them targeting women and seniors.
